The Port of Long Beach is operated by the City of Long Beach. It is located next to the Port of Los Angeles, but the two ports are operated independently. The Port of Long Beach is a tenant port, meaning the terminals are leased to third parties to operate. The port provides security, fire protection, and does long-term planning and construction.
